Minaki Local Fishing Map

Many of the names used on this souvenir
map are used by local guides and visiting
fishermen and ladies for area reference only.
Name giving began shortly after the turn of
the century and developed accordingly as it
became necessary to identify where the fish
were biting and where to meet for a shore l
unch. The usually described some physical
attribute, somebody's favourite fishing hole
or an activity associated with that spot.
Names have been knows to switch locale
or change over the years. Thus, though they
are convenient to say, you buddies know
where you caught that mess of fish.
Remember that these names where usually
given in the light-hearted spirit and fun that
we hope you will experience during your stay
with us. This map claims only to be local
memento, not to be used for critical
navigation.
